"Are you mad??" "No, I'm not mad.....it's fine."
Mystery Solved!
Do you ever get the sinking feeling that you might not be in your lady's good graces? You ask if she is upset only for her to reply, "No, I'm not upset. It's fine." Although she grants you these assuring words, you cannot help but feel that she is not being entirely truthful. When you sense that palpable air of disdain envelope your exchange, your suspicion is likely correct. She is indeed upset with you.
Why don't women just say what they mean?? Well, as atavistic as it may seem, society has taught women that it is not particularly ladylike to express negative emotions such as anger. In addition, woman is a highly introspective creature. Quite often her reluctance to immediately publicize her thoughts and feelings is due to her wishing to take an aside and reflect upon the situation. This includes self-evaluating the rationality of her feelings weighed against the potential benefit or detriment of broaching the subject. In that same vein, she may thoughtfully choose to temper her emotions first before engaging in a dialogue.
" If you don't have anything nice to say..."
Whether or not she expresses herself verbally, women are masters of body language. As we all know, approximately 80% of all communication is non-verbal. Thus, even though she assures you she is not mad, your instincts may tell you that quite the opposite is true. This is her body language slapping you upside the head. Communication is of paramount importance in any relationship. One would be wise to pay attention to the less direct, albeit utterly compelling signals that are often more candid about a person's true state of mind than their words may be.
Therefore, gentlemen, do yourselves a favor and simply apologize. One can never go wrong with an easy, "I'm sorry." Trite as it may be, these two words go miles with the fairer sex. She will be most grateful for the gesture, flattered that you seem to understand her, and quick to forgive your transgression.

Vanessa Gomez can credit her unique looks to a harmonious blend of German and Mexican ancestry. Born and raised by a single mother in San Diego, Vanessa began acting locally in the fourth grade when she participated in Balboa Park's Summer Theatre Program.
Continuing to pursue her passion for the performing arts through high school and well into college, Vanessa eventually made the move to Los Angeles where one of her first auditions became her first big break; the audition was for a little Indie film called, Come Together.
Directed by Charles Unger, Come Together is a lighthearted coming of age comedy that mixes elements of The Breakfast Club with the American Pie franchise. Now with the DVD release of that film, Vanessa's hard work has paid
off, and her dreams of a career as a professional actress are coming to fruition. Vanessa's sophomore feature was a Film Noir-inspired piece entitled Blood Money, where her character,
Marilyn, not unlike herself, was an aspiring actress.
Most recently Vanessa was cast in the Directorial debut of NFL Legend Simeon Rices comedy When I was King. Her latest project is a Cooking Show with elements of sketch comedy called Cook her Pants Off, directed by Reign Shaw and due for release in the summer of 2012.
Taking a more entrepreneurial role in her acting career, Vanessa started her own production company, Wicked Wolf Films. You probably couldnt tell by looking at her, but Vanessa is a huge fan of horror films and the horror genre in general. She decided to take that enthusiasm and begin creating her own horror projects -- her production company released their first film project, Vamps, in 2010, and they're developing an original series pilot, Lost Angels , that will shine a spotlight on the underbelly of the L.A. acting and club scene. Wicked Wolf Films is also developing a horror film franchise centered on the story of an insatiable serial killer Clown tentatively entitled, Bubbles.
When not busy on set or in the production booth, Vanessa finds time to spend with her family and friends. She enjoys kickboxing and pampering herself with an occasional spa day. A typical weekend for her would be watching film screenings by Cinespia at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. She loves listening to her iPod, which is uploaded with a variety of artists, from Kanye West to Britney Spears to Marilyn Manson; literally a song for every occasion. Vanessa also believes in giving back to causes and organizations that are important to her; she supports The Fistula Foundation and is an active participant in the NOH8 Campaign.

Okay, gentlemen, let's get down to brass tacks while keeping it real. As much as we all may enjoy popping a bottle of champagne (or two) for New Year's, more often, we utilize this wonderful libation as a great tool to woo our Ms. Right (or Ms. Right Now). Not only is the Cattier NV Brut Rose' a textbook example, but, in this economy, it's a tremendous value for all that you get when compared to its competitors in the $100 range.
First, the presentation is stunning. The seductive red bottle is trimmed with black foil and locked in a sexy gold wire cage and just screams out to her that you went all out and hand picked something special for you to share. Something out of the ordinary and unique just like her!
Now a bookmark: Make sure that you use proper, clear champagne flutes. Stemware is not only key to the presentation, but also an integral part to the enjoyment of any wine, still or sparkling. So go the extra mile to get the correct flutes if you don't already have them.
Second, and just as important, is the juice. From the moment you remove the cork and pour it into the flutes, the light orange-ish pink color and copious amount of extra-fine bubbles is simply spectacular.
Another quick bookmark: Always remove the cork with as little noise as possible. Fun as it is, DO NOT shoot the cork across the room. It's dangerous, and more importantly, it depressurizes the bottle too quickly and detracts from the carbonation and finesse the champagne has to offer.
A nose of wild strawberries, red-flower potpourri and toasty brioche leads you to a plethora of flavors. On the front palate, there is a presence of crisp tangerine, dried apricot, and ripe raspberries. After the first few sips glide gently down, this wonderful champagne also shows notes of candied orange, ground cloves and lavender. All of these components harmonize in a long, elegant, limestone laden finish. In layman's terms, this champagne is a Rock Star.
As a professional Sommelier, I am often asked to name my favorite wine or alcoholic beverage. My knee-jerk reaction: That's like asking the Octomom which one of her children is her favorite. But, when pigeon-holed into answering that question seriously, I respond with one word: Champagne!
After tasting the Cattier NV Brut Rose, you'll see why that's my answer.
So -- you've graduated college and are ready to go out into the work force. But after four years of bring buried in books in hopes that one day youll get the job of your dreams, you have come to realize that your wardrobe is less than desirable. The baggy jeans you love and the over sized t-shirt that your girlfriend sleeps in when she stays the night won't exactly cut it for a job interview. So, it's time to look for your first suit. I'm sure you're asking yourself, where do I start and what kind do I get? What color? What style is appropriate for a job interview?
PRELIMINARY CONSIDERATIONS.
Well, I will give you all the information you need to know about purchasing your first suit and the tools to begin building a wardrobe that will give you a professional look while just enough edge to remain stylish and age appropriate. First, you should do a little research before you make a beeline to Brooks Brothers. This is to avoid pushy salesmen from talking you into an ultra expensive suit you later realize doesn't feel or look right and ends up spending the rest of its days in your closet until you decide give it to Goodwill for a tax write off.
The second thing that is very important to consider is the fabric. Suits are generally made out of a wool, cotton, flannel or linen. Some are blended with lycra and other microfibers as well. But the best bang for your buck is a "worsted" wool suit. It's durable, and will last for many years if taken care of properly.
THE SUIT AND JACKET.
Now, first you need to decide on a single or double-breasted style suit. Since we are focused on an interview, I suggest you look at a single-breasted suit. A single-breasted suit is a classic style that can be used several different occasions. Blue or grey should be your chosen color for your first suit. These colors work very well with black or brown shoes and a multitude of other to colors to layer with shirts and ties.
Next you have to decide on two or three-button blazer. If you are a shorter man, I would recommend getting a two-button blazer as it lengthens the torso. Taller men may opt for three buttons based on stylistic preference. The two-button suit, however, is what most men should wear. Every fashion label imaginable is designing two-button suits; the trend being to make these suits more streamlined and modern, which is why they are so popular.
Another choice to make is whether to have single center or double vents the back of your jacket. Double vents are more European and a bit more suave. They make it easier for you to reach into your pockets without folding up your jacket. On the other hand, theyre the most expensive and less readily available than the center vent. Center vent cuts are more traditional. You cant go wrong with a center vent.
SLACKS. WHAT THE CUFF??
When looking at pants, the options are pleats or no pleats. Modern fashion is departing further and further from pleats, but there is a time and place for everything so long as you wear it well. Pleats can be flattering to heavier men who need some extra stretch, but its always flattering to go for flat-front if you can.
Cuffs or no cuffs? Cuffs add weight to the bottom of your pants, helping it to hang properly. Theyre better for taller men, because cuffs tend to unflatteringly minimize the silhouette of shorter legs.
MEASURING UP.
Know your measurements. This seems obvious, but make sure to know your exact sizes and not just a general category of measurements you think you fall under. As a matter of fact, you should have yourself measured at least once a year. Even if you have purchased a suit before, dont keep asking for the same size out of habit. As you gain or lose weight, grow older, and gravity takes its toll, your suit size will change. So make sure you have up-to-date information.
A suit jacket size is determined by measuring the thickest part of your chest in inches. You should do this in two ways and use the larger of the two. Method #1: Begin by measuring just under your armpits and across the chest and over the shoulder blades. Just relax and dont flex. Make sure you keep the tape measure parallel to the floor when you do this. This will help assure that youre measuring the thickest part of the chest area. Method #2: Take an overarm measurement where you place the tape measure over the outside of your arms at your sides and across the thickest part of your chest. Once you have this measurement subtract 7 inches to calculate the corresponding chest measurement. Then compare this measurement with the chest measurement and take the larger of the two.
Trouser sizes are determined by measuring the waist at the belt line. In most cases, the belt line will be found just on top of your hipbone. The length is determined by measuring the legs; a step best left for your tailor. Now that you have all your measurements, onto next step.
WHERE TO GO, WHAT TO ASK.
When purchasing a suit, a good place to begin is a department store. For example, Barneys, Bloomingdales and Saks all have a vast selection. Step into the store and take a look at the different styles and types of suits they have. You will want to ask if there is a tailor on site because for a suit to truly "wear nicely", it must be fitted to your unique frame. It will make a world of difference if the suit is specifically tailored to your body. A suit should feel like a fluid body of armor. It should make you feel confident and proud; allowing you to walk in any setting with a commanding presence.
PARTING WORDS.
There are, of course, many more options and considerations for the more refined suit connoisseur, but as far as your first couple suits are concerned, the bases have been covered.
